Highly engaged workplaces have been shown to lower the likelihood of new incidents of depression and anxiety, but even though your employee-owners may be engaged, are they thriving? Recent Gallup polling found that engaged employees at work who report that they are struggling or suffering when it comes to the intersection of work and life are 61% more likely to experience burnout and 48% more likely to experience daily stress. The costs associated with poor employee well-being are dire: approximately 15-20% of total payroll in voluntary turnover costs, on average, are due to burnout, and there is an additional $2 million in lost opportunity cost to companies for every 1,000 workers. Organizational psychologist, Adam Grant, says that well-being, in and out of work, can largely depend on our “sense of purpose, support, autonomy, and psychological safety” in the workplace. This session will focus on the importance and intersection of employee engagement and well-being and why addressing both will be critical to company success in years to come.
